Common questions

What files does GEDitMobile use?

• GEDCOM 5.5.1–compatible genealogy files stored locally or on iCloud, including GEDitCOM extensions
• Media embedded directly within GEDCOM files (photos, documents, etc.)
• iPhone Note files (.ipn) stored locally and optionally uploaded to iCloud

Does GEDitMobile edit my GEDCOM?

Editing is supported for iPhone Note files stored locally. These notes can be uploaded to iCloud and incorporated manually or via GEDitCOM II as GEDCOM Note Records. GEDCOM records are view-only.

How large can a family history file be?

GEDitMobile can efficiently browse large family history files containing tens of thousands of records.
